Theater “The Last Sin Eater”

I’m helping out with a stage play and want to invite you all to come.  It is “The Last Sin Eater” adapted for stage (by one of the cast) from the book by  Francine Rivers.  (Info on the story here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Sin_Eater)  The story deals with many themes including forgiveness. The story revolves around a girl named Cadi who is carrying guilt for her younger sister’s death. The only hope for guilt or shame to be taken care of, according to the tradition of her village, is to die. That’s when the Sin Eater comes, a man who has been chosen by lottery and lives as an outcast and  can never be looked at or touched. He comes whenever he hears the death bell toll and “eats” the sin of the deceased. When Cadi goes to find the Sin Eater and asks if he can eat her sins before she dies, that starts an unraveling of traditions and the dark secrets of the village are revealed. Come and find out what happens when a man of God comes to the village, and the collision that occurs between him and Brogan Kai, the man who rules the people with an iron fist.

You may have seen the movie, directed by Michael Landon, Jr., or read the book by Francine Rivers. With permission from Brian Bird, the producer of the film, Act On Ministries will stage this powerful story for the first time.
