Sunday January 8, 2006 - Notes From the Journey

Sunday January 8, 2006

It was a great day!  I got to church and set up.  I had a good cup of coffee and hung out until the worship team arrived.  The Countryman family were not there so I ran sound during practice.  Dick ran sound for the service.  It was like old times (the Elon days ).  I really appreciate Him.  He blesses the body with his faithful service and heart.  He is one of the men I look up to in the Lord.  I desire to serve and minister with the heart for the Lord and His people that Dick has.  Worship was sweet and so was Mark’s sermon on Eph. 1:1.  I really like Ephesians and am looking forward to the series.
The Ted Dekker book I’m listening to really stirs me to consider how much the Lord chooses me, woos me, loves me and lavishes upon me.  It stirs me to learn from Him the Great Romance.  God is so amazing and desires us to choose Him and be contented by Him alone.  Only out of the love, grace, strength, and peace He gives can we live for Him and for His glory.  All that we have and are is because of Him.  Mark’s sermon about Paul knowing his place (humility) and his role (apostle) goes right along with this.  Paul was humble because he knew who God was and what God had done in his life.  Had security and self worth not because of his roll in the church, but because of who he was because of God.  God choose him and gave him the calling.  The Lord does the same with us.  God created mankind with a need to be loved, accepted and valued.  We truly worship Him when we choose Him as the only person who can fill our needs.  I choose Him because He first choose me.  I love Him because He first loved me.  Oh my God is more than I could have every asked, hoped, or longed for with all my being.   Great  is my Love, my Lord, my Savior, my Jesus!

(I spend the rest of the day lounging and flipping between the Panthers game and the Discovery channel.  It was a nice finish to a relaxing weekend.  I’m so thankful to the Lord for it.)
