In the last few weeks we have had an earthquake, a hurricane, tornadoes, and more roll through our area. We are also coming up on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 an event that woke the U.S. up to what was happening all over the world. There are talks of more terrorist actives to come. People around me are dealing with sickness, cancer and more.
I can bemoan it all and let despair cripple me. I can become overactive and try to lose myself in preparing. I can try to ignore it all and then be overwhelmed.
BUT I don’t have to. I can face it all with strength, wisdom, peace and joy. You may say, “Well he is full of himself.” I well tell you no. I can face it because I have no strength, wisdom, peace or joy in myself. I have them all because I have Jesus Christ. He alone is my salvation. He alone is my shelter. He alone is the rock on which I can stand. Jesus prayed not the ones He saved would be taken out of the world, but that we would be protected from Satan. In the midst of trials and tribulations, we can run to Him and stand. We then can be a light for Christ in the darkness. When we reminded ourselves of our shelter in Christ, we then can worship Him with abandonment.
I love Sovereign Grace Music (http://www.sovereigngracemusic.org), because they take the Truth of God and put it to music that moves my mind, my will and my emotions to worship God more fully. I have pasted two songs that are in my heart and mind right now. They are “I Have A Shelter” and “Behold Our God” so listen and consider Jesus Christ in the midst of your storms.
