Day 5 – Painting, Cistern Work & Fort Tour

Posing at the turret

OK I don’t have any photos of the work during the day for good reason.  I was using the Fox family’s video camera and Vic Costello’s camera to capture the work.  The floor and wall base forms were poured in concrete.  The rest of the group started cleaning and painting on the staff/women’s quarters.

That afternoon most of the group went the the larger of the two forts the Spanish built on the island.  This fort defended one side of the only passage into the port of Cartegna.  This side had cannons that fired high.  Across the channel was a fort that shot low and between the two, un-approved ships were finished.  It was fun to see the fort and have the time with staff and the kids.

That night was the final night of the parent conference.  The conference went well and the people of the community seemed to get a lot out of it.
