Saturday May 3, 2008 - Notes From the Journey

Saturday May 3, 2008

It was beautiful and wonderful day.  Hundreds of people had been praying all week for good weather since the wedding was outdoors.  We had sunny day with a breeze and the Lord held back the rain.  It was a beautiful service.  It was so special to see Micah & Kari’s family in the wedding party.  It was special and sweet that Kari’s youngest brother Will escorted in a special way.  He brought in a flower and placed it in a chair signifying that Gail was there in spirit.  Micah & Kari’s dads performed the ceremony.  It was so God honoring and fun.  Micah & Kari had been saving their first kiss for their wedding day.  Woody kept drawing it out and making them wait.  He has such a depth in the Lord, compassionate spirit, and a good sense of humor.
The reception was very nice.  Marg and the Sonny’s Catering crew did a great job as always.  I was a little weird not to be working but nice.  I even got some ribbing from the staff about not working.  I had a good time walking around and talking with different people and having sweet conversations.  It was so awesome to see the Lord’s family from all over the country come for this event.  It is a testimony to the Lord’s work in Micah & Kari and both families.
I really have grown to admire, enjoy and even love the Shoemaker family.  We as a church prayed with them and for them during Gail’s sickness and home going.  Our hearts and spirits were connected in prayer with them.  It has been a joy to get to know the family better in this more joyous time.  I’m going to miss them a lot when they head back to Kansas on Tue.  I think a lot of us are praying that the Lord brings them to North Carolina soon!
