Wednesday December 19, 2007

It was a very good day.  I got attendance done early.  We had a Data Manager’s lunch and gift exchange today.  It was a lot of fun catching up with everyone.  This afternoon at school, we had a very special celebration.  One of our custodians is retiring.  He had been working part time with us but now needs to be home to help his wife.  He is 85.  He worked 33 years retired and then started working part time for schools in Chapel Hill.  He greeted everyone with a smile and a good morning.  He had joy in his work and loved to be there.  We had a reception in his honor.  We learned a lot of neat things about him and gave him a grocery gift card that will help he and his wife out for several months.
This afternoon, I came home and got all but 3 gifts wrapped up.  I had a light supper.  Then I headed out my home group from church and another one went to rest home and sang carols for the men and women there.  We handed out little gifts and talked with them.  Then we headed over to the house of a couple in our church.  We sang to them and gave them a gift basket.  Afterwards we all headed over to the church building.  We all brought finger foods and had a great time fellowshipping and laughing around the tables.  It has been a great day!
