It was a good day. We had Men’s Breakfast at church. It was a good time talking about the Lord’s calling in our lives. Worship was sweet and I’ve been singing “Arise, My Soul, Arise” all day long. Mark’s sermon about the call of Levi, the response of the pharasies, and the response of Jesus was was exciting. It was also challenging to come and follow Jesus and to bring those around us to Him.
I relaxed and watch the Disney movie “The Black Hole” on cable this afternoon. Then I headed over to First Presbyterian for a catering. It was a reception for their organist who is retiring. It was a busy job but a good one. It was fun to sit down afterwards with all of Marg’s crew and talk. I came home and grabbed a shower. Then I watched the first 2 hours of “National Treasure.”

“I relaxed and watch the Disney movie “The Black Hole” on cable this afternoon.”
You “relaxed” and then proceeded to watch “The Black Hole”…?!??
Egads man, talk about working at cross purposes!
“The Black Hole” was Disney’s first-ever PG-rated motion picture. I’ve heard a lot of stories over the years about how it disturbed quite a number of people when it came out, especially young children. That some of them even needed therapy after watching the movie’s stronger sequences (Maximillian’s killing Durant, the zombie crew, the trip to Heaven and Hell, etc.)
It’s definitely a strange entry from Disney. But “The Black Hole” is also widely acknowledged as being Disney’s first foray into more serious and less “kid-friendly” fare. If it weren’t for “The Black Hole” breaking the ground first, Disney might never have given us “Tron” and similar movies. We also might never have seen Disney give us “Lost”.
However, in his final interview Philip K. Dick said that the movie was “crap”, so go figure :-\
